Cosplayers 2011

(Note to say that I don't know the person who put this out or get anything out of this in any way).

Hi friends, I just wanted to share this with you in the event that you did not hear about it. I just ordered this book from Blurb, a self-publishing book manufacturer (which I use all the time and adore).  If you are into Cosplay at all, check it out, it's a beautiful book and I like to fully support people in making these types of things and then making them available to the rest of the world! I do a lot of historical (ish) costuming, but the costuming world is vast and really cool.

Oh, Baz Luhrmann, you make me weep for joy.

I do not, in any way, care if people judge me.  I love Baz Luhrmann.  I loved Moulin Rouge!, I loved La Bohèm, which I was lucky enough to see in San Francisco, and I adored Romeo + Juliet. There, I said it.  And you know what?  I almost died in my seat when I saw the trailer, in 3D, for the Great Gatsby.

People, it was simply amazing.  The trailer below is great, and I would go see that movie, but the trailer in 3D was mind-blowing.  It was visually stunning.  It was like my brain got to do amazing drugs and there was no consequences. I tell you, that trailer was what movies should be.

I am so excited!

Here, be excited with me:

Now Imagine that in 3D that makes you feel like you are there, walking around, at the party, in the room. This is what the Great Gatsby was like in my head when I read it.  I am so glad Baz is doing this, and I can't wait for Christmas!!

Costume College 2012

I am back from CoCo this year, and a great time was had by all! I Went with Wendy and neither of us wore any costumes at all, as I find it less stressfull and more conducive to learning if I don;t need to worry about getting ready all the time. I did take lots of pictures though! They can be found here on Flickr.

I tok Shoe Painting, which was way more fun than I thought, a really great tassel class by Lynn Mc Masters, I learned to make Lunardi Hats, and 18th century buttons, and tutus and how to insert invisible busks in cirsets. The always fab HCC had a great class on how to resin cast in your kitchen, which I totally want to try now.

I saw friends, new and old and everyone looked wonderful. It made me want to do even more costumng! Here's some pictures that I particularly love:
